The class of 2026 made their mark in school history by becoming the 10th class to achieve 100% college acceptance. Since the school’s inaugural class of 2017, each consecutive class has reached this milestone, which has become a point of pride for the seniors. “I feel very successful, like I’ve really achieved something,” said senior Miyea. “Cristo Rey has made me feel like all my hard work is valued, and they’ve given me the time and support to really evaluate my academics and my college choices.”
On the topic of college choices, Miyea has made her decision. “I committed to Otterbein University to pursue veterinary medicine,” she said. “They have a very unique equine program, and freshmen can get hands-on experience with animals their first year. This will allow me to build a strong foundation and help me decide if I want to focus on wildlife, domestic animals, or farm animals.”

For senior Nestor, achieving college acceptance is a dream come true. “I never really expected to get this far in my life. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, which made it feel impossible to ever achieve a goal like this. I’m glad I did not give up. I kept going with my head up and a big grin on my face. It’s a dream turned into reality.”
Like his classmate Miyea, Nestor also has his next steps mapped out. “My college plan is two-fold,” he said. “Next year I’ll be attending Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) in Cleveland, where I’ll focus on civil engineering and get an idea of what it would be like to be an architect. Then I hope to transfer to the University of Cincinnati to complete my degree. I think this will help me be sure this career path is right for me and stay financially responsible, while also being able to live in a new city.”
