Volunteer Overview
Volunteers are an essential part of the Cristo Rey Columbus community, helping us create an even stronger, more vibrant environment for our students. By offering your time and talents, you’ll play a meaningful role in supporting our mission and enriching the student experience.
For the safety of our students, all volunteers must complete a fingerprint criminal background check and attend the “Protecting God’s Children” training, regardless of how much time they spend volunteering.
We invite you to join us and make a positive impact in the lives of our students and community!
Becoming a volunteer is easy! Please complete the steps below:
Step 1: Contact Us
The first step to becoming a volunteer is reaching out to us to explore how your skills and availability can best support our program. We’ll work together to ensure a meaningful experience for both you and our students.
Please contact Emily Eaton, Advancement Manager, at 614-223-9261 ext 039 or eeaton@crchsworks.org to get started!

Step 3: Attend a Protecting God’s Children training session
Registration must be done online at Virtus Online. Follow the links on the left side of the page to begin the registration process or view a list of upcoming sessions. When asked to select your organization, select “Columbus OH (Diocese)”. You can register for any session in the diocese. Upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Training Attendance.
Step 4: Submit to a Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
These services are provided by FastFingerprints. Please DO NOT have results sent directly to Cristo Rey. Instead, results should be sent to ATTN: Regina Quinn, Diocese of Columbus, 197 E. Gay St, Columbus OH 43215.
If you have lived in Ohio for the past five years or more, you only need to select BCI for your background check. If you have lived in Ohio less than five years, select both BCI and FBI.
Step 5: Await Confirmation
Once we have the results of your background check and a record of your training attendance, we will confirm that you are ready to start volunteering!
